Over the past five years I've enjoyed working with adolescents and young adults as a full-time school social worker and soccer coach. Given the transient and dense population of the Northern Virginia community, our school aged population puts immense pressure on themselves to succeed socially, academically, and athletically. Many students that I've worked with in the school and private practice setting are dealing with depression, anxiety, stress, trauma, relationship issues, or something else.
While I typically incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Theory, Psychodynamic Theory, and mindfulness into my sessions, the most important part of counseling is the therapeutic relationship between a therapist and their client. Regardless of the modality I'm using, everything I do in the session involves the client and seeks to build on their innate strengths.
Additional areas of focus: Grief, Career difficulties, Depression, Coaching, ADHD, Commitment Issues, Communication Problems, Isolation/Loneliness, Men's Issues, Post-traumatic Stress
Clinical approaches: Client-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy
