About me

Hey there, my name is Matt, and I'm the therapist who got started because his mom thought being a social worker was a good career fit. Well add one more point for mom, since I got hooked! I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) here in Los Angeles, where I passionately serve individuals and families in their homes, school, communities, and now, online. I made my company, Framework Family Counseling in order to develop my idea of "family connectedness," that all people DESERVE to feel belonging and connection within their family, and much of my work addresses issues that result from experiences of DIS-connection. My expertise lies in resolution of family problems, trauma, parenting strategies, disruptive behavior in children, and anxiety/depression. I further have unique experiences working with children with sexual behaviors, co-occurring disorders (substance dependence + mental health illness), and working within the school system, which apply to many situations.

My style of therapy is highly client-centered, where you come first. We will explore your situation, identify strengths, and make achievable goals every step of the way. I utilize approaches such as family systems (we are a constellation of interconnected relationships, so we focus on how we live inside that galaxy and interact with everyone around us), solutions-focused (staying focused on positive outcomes and how to achieve them, what their impact will be, and building constant motivation), and trauma-informed CBT techniques (using changes to thoughts, feelings, and behavior to achieve new outcomes, with the skills to handle the effects of trauma).

What is majorly important is to understand that therapy is about gaining control through insight. We will work to learn more about you, your life, your relationships, your experiences, and the impact these have all had on your current experience and functioning. That means a lot of self-learning, and through that learning, creating the ability to make meaningful changes.

Therapy is an experience where the connection to your therapist is the MOST important thing. The magic is in the relationship; that is where the skills and techniques get their power from. Let's see if we are a great fit for one another. Partner with me in creating the experience where self-love, hope, empowerment, and an unending hunger for solutions and belonging will create success in your situation!
