About Me

I am a licensed professional counselor, with over 5 years of experience in the treatment of complex-trauma, addictions and substance use disorders, stress, mood, and anxiety-related conditions.
I have come to believe that each of us has an inherent healing mechanism which can be discovered when we are treated with dignity and have the a space to bring forth integrity. My experience has shown that genuine service to other people involves being the ability to be exceptionally curious in the process of learning how each individual processes the world.

Furthermore, the environment we live in today is complex. I ensure to stay current on biological issues that effect our behaviors.

Most problems are multi-dimensional, therefore the solutions to bring you back to wellness must also be multi-dimensional. I look forward to getting to meet you and walking with you on your path of healing!

Matthew has been fantastic over the one year that I worked with him. He's incredibly knowledgable, insightful and a great listener, and I could not have asked for more from a therapist. I'd recommend him to anyone and would be happy to work with him again.

Matthew is a great counselor. He knows how to help others with their issues in a professional manner. I would recommend anyone else to console in Matthew.

Matthew is extremely knowledgeable and helpful. He has helped me understand the science behind difficult emotions which have tremendously helped me take agency and power in difficult situations - instead of feeling that there is something wrong in me or that I am broken, I realise the role of biology and psychology in how one responds to things- which allows me to realise that nothing is wrong with me as such- rather it is part of being human, and it can be healed. This is very empowering. He is empathetic, helpful and kind which has greatly helped me to be comfortable enough to articulate and discuss difficult situations and emotions. Due to very good cross-cultural expertise and awareness of cultural differences, Matthew is able to suggest ideas or link things from psychology and science to culture which is beneficial in healing trauma.

I sought counseling to help me navigate difficult circumstances as an aging professional that were compounded by fear, depression and anxiety. Matthew offered excellent guidance that helped me confront and address my issues, leading me to successful resolution and the ability to move forward with confidence to the next chapter in my life. His insight into neuroscience and social issues is spot on and I'm deeply grateful as I would not be where I am today but for his support and guidance.

Extremely empathetic man. He is the smartest Therapist I met. He really knows what he is talking about and forms our session often into a coaching. Strongly recommended!

I am extremely pleased to have Matt as my counselour. It’s been a really fruitful experience and I was put at ease by his ways, expertise/method, rigour and communication style. I was quite lucky to have been paired up this way on the first try and always look forward to our sessions. He’s been very generous with his time as well which I’m grateful for.

I love his science based approach to treatment. If I treat the brain as a machine I can fix it like a machine.

Matthew keeps things friendly and relaxed, and you can talk as if you were talking to a friend without any sort of trouble. As you are doing so, you may say something important without thinking about it, and he will quickly pick up the concept and explain one of the basis of your current tribulations directly linked to what you just said. It's almost magical and I've had my fair share of "woah, you're right" moments.
