About me

Welcome!
Taking this step to better yourself is the beginning of a journey and the destination is up to you. It takes a great amount of courage to admit to needing help and even more to seek it out. As a therapist, I am a teammate or guide on this journey to who you would like to become. I would like you to get to know me a little and the core principles of my therapy.
I started therapy a little later in life after returning to school following a period of disability. I have a Master's degree in Clinical Counseling. I grew up on the Gulf Coast in Texas, then ventured to Oregon and Colorado for a few years. but now I have returned home to help take care of my father., CO.. Currently, I maintain licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas. I have a passion for helping others and am dedicated to my client's needs. As a therapist, the agency I worked for was involved in helping deal with the recovery of Hurricane Harvey and the Santa Fe, TX school shooting. This experience has increased my awareness and practice using CBT for trauma. Working with anxiety, PTSD, and extensive trauma with clients. I also have worked in the area of self-esteem, confidence, respect, and communication. All are keys to becoming a powerful person.
At the beginning of therapy, I believe there has to be a period of safety, trust, and relationship building. Once this is done the work can begin. I like to work hard and provide my clients with immediate tools and thoughts to improve their world. There needs to be an understanding of the client gets to experience their life and the therapist should respect this by acknowledging they are the expert. The goal of CBT is to help change the distorted or incorrect thoughts in one's life and this will lead to better outcomes. The betterment of one's understanding of themselves leads to a better understanding of the world.
This is a big step to open up to someone and discuss your personal challenges or issues that are occurring. I would like you to know that I am passionate about being positive and thrive to help others. Consider your choice wisely and pick the best fit for you. I am low pressure, laid back, but have a belief in giving life 100%, whatever that looks like for the day. Hope to meet you soon.

I am very grateful to have found Matt and truly appreciate his independent, calm and level-headed approach to self-improvement. He is a great listener and offers perspective on how to approach life’s challenges to reduce anxiety and be fulfilled. On an administrative notes, Matt is open to meet from the morning to the evening, so it is easy to find a time slot that works. Thanks!
