About me

My name is Matt Lambert and I am an experienced integrative counsellor and psychotherapist based in Horsham with 19 years experience of working with adults, children and families.

I specialise in working with adults and children with anxiety and depression and help them to reconnect to themselves and the world around them. Depression can be complicated inasmuch as there is no one reason as to why someone might experience it and often it's not just depression it can be a whole host of other things which are ultimately linked to it and this could be trauma, self harm, gaming, isolation, hopelessness, fear, worry about the past or the future, addiction, loss/grief, feeling lost and that life has no meaning or uncertainty. Depression is a word that is frequently used in every day life and whilst there is a definition I believe that we can all experience depression in our own unique way and your depression may not feel like my depression but this doesn't make it any less valid. How you feel and how you live your life is important and often addressing the depression that we feel can help us to live the life that we have always dreamt of freeing us of persistent negativity, guilt and unhappiness.

Anxiety is something that we all experience, however, some people experience anxiety in a way that stops them from making decision and gets in the way of them living their lives. Anxiety is a natural response to a stressful situation but there are often times when there may not be a stressful situation but you are consumed with an overwhelming sense of anxiety. I work with clients to discover tools to assist with managing anxiety but also use mindfulness and breathing techniques to help people manage their thoughts and sensations in their body so that they can continue to live their life and ultimately not be at the mercy of anxiety.

I’ve been with Matthew for about 4 months or so, in that time we’ve covered a great deal of topics and discussed a wide range of things. Every time Matthew has been easy to chat to and get along with while helping topics to develop and always manages to drop insightful moments into each session to make them all so valuable. Every call with him feels as though you are talking to a friend that just wants the best for you and it’s such a refreshing experience that after each call you feel as though a weights been lifted while also having a deeper understanding of everything you’ve discussed. I can’t commend him highly enough, thank you so much for all the help you have been Matthew

Honestly, Matthew is a true gift. Someone that I would never have met if it weren't for better help. He sees me, who I am inside, what my struggles are.... I make my life as hard for me as my family do but Matthew helps me to work out why this happens.... I am very thankful for him
.. his kindness and support truly help me.

Thank you Matt x

I have spoken to Matt a few times. He has given me good advice and suggestions. He has also asked what area I need help in and talking to him has helped me deal with my condition when I need help.
