Creating a space for self acceptance and validation is a big first step of what I intend to facilitate as a therapist. If you feel something, then it is valid. With these principles as the back drop, we are able to begin the difficult, but worthwhile work of therapy: making the subconscious parts of ourselves more conscious.
From a treatment modality perspective, I utilize CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, and Solution Focused Brief Therapy.
I've worked with individuals from a great number of demographics, however most of my work has taken place within the LGBT community. I also have an ample amount of experience in working with clients who experience substance abuse disorders, chronic health conditions, grief/loss, and mood disorders.
I’m here to collaborate with you on ways to improve the quality of your life. I believe that being well is not just about an absence of suffering, but also striving towards a sense of purpose and meaning. I believe my role is about encouraging clients towards these principles.
I believe acclimating to reality is another essential part of therapy and is something we do together. I assist clients in searching for answers within and outside of themselves. Sometimes, this work is about coping with the lack of answers we often face.
I truly enjoy meeting individuals from all walks of life. I recognize that I may not be the best therapist for everyone, but I inquire with each client what they most need out of a therapist and strive to meet that need to the best of my ability. Thank you for reading. I look forward to hearing from you!

Matt is an absolutely incredible therapist. I have worked with him for 5 years and he is very supportive. He listens well. Advocates for me, challenges me - which I find extremely important in a therapist. He also knows how to lighten the mood when I need to hear something soft/funny. I feel safe, validated, heard, and supported by him. He will also always provide outside resources if I need that.
