Creating a space for self acceptance and validation is a big first step of what I intend to facilitate as a therapist. If you feel something, then it is valid. With these principles as the back drop, we are able to begin the difficult, but worthwhile work of therapy: making the subconscious parts of ourselves more conscious.
From a treatment modality perspective, I utilize CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, and Solution Focused Brief Therapy.
I've worked with individuals from a great number of demographics, however most of my work has taken place within the LGBT community. I also have an ample amount of experience in working with clients who experience substance abuse disorders, chronic health conditions, grief/loss, and mood disorders.
I’m here to collaborate with you on ways to improve the quality of your life. I believe that being well is not just about an absence of suffering, but also striving towards a sense of purpose and meaning. I believe my role is about encouraging clients towards these principles.
I believe acclimating to reality is another essential part of therapy and is something we do together. I assist clients in searching for answers within and outside of themselves. Sometimes, this work is about coping with the lack of answers we often face.
I truly enjoy meeting individuals from all walks of life. I recognize that I may not be the best therapist for everyone, but I inquire with each client what they most need out of a therapist and strive to meet that need to the best of my ability. Thank you for reading. I look forward to hearing from you!

I have only been working with Matthew for a short time, but his approach has been incredibly helpful to me as I work through my issues. His responses to my questions and feedback have been timely and have helped me find new insights. I feel very fortunate that I was connected with Matthew for my counseling!
Matthew has taken the time to address all of my concerns and he listens to what I have to say without judgement. He very openly talked to me in the beginning about his therapy style and asked me what I wanted to get out of therapy and how therapy works best for me as well. We have multiple methods of communication from video calls to messages in between to keep him updated of my progress and to also keep myself accountable for the goals that we set. I would highly recommend Matthew to anyone in the LGBTQ+ community as well as anyone in the Poly community.
Matthew is very kind, patient, and understanding. He's willing to go at your pace and offer as much guidance as possible. He creates a very secure and welcoming atmosphere.
Matthew is understanding and very kind. I know he knows his stuff by the answers given to me. He helps you understand how to deal with issues that are holding you back.
Even in the short time working with Matthew I am seeing progress. He is a very gentle and kind soul with a gift for insight. I thank God I found this man. He is helping me return to the light of life.
He listens intently and gives me much confidence in areas that I desperately need it. He is wonderful and very punctual. I also love that he has given me so many options for communication. Love this service, love not having to drive, and love that its in a comfortable atmosphere. Can only say thank you, thank you, thank you!
He's been great; very kind and understanding.
