About me

Greetings, and thank you for stopping by my profile page. I specialize in treating anxiety, PTSD, stress, abuse, motivational issues, shame-related trauma, & coping with life changes. To address these often long-standing issues, I use a variety of mind and body-based interventions including, Focusing-Oriented Therapy, FOT, Compassion Focused Therapy, CFT, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, to help you address the parts of you that may feel angry, anxious, traumatized, wounded, ashamed, etc.
These practices focus on retraining our BodyMind so we can learn to accept and work with what shows up inside of us by learning to be mindfully aware so we learn to step back from our judging and criticizing minds.
It is by learning to cultivate the emotional courage (willingness) to turn toward, feel into, and give a voice to the parts of us that are wounded, and that we generally turn away from, shun, or wish we could rid ourselves of that we are finally able to transform our relationship to the emotional pain and attain mind-body balance.
We are far more than our emotional wounding and by courageously exploring the emotional wounds together we can learn to stop transferring it onto ourselves through harsh self-criticism and judgment, and others by projecting it and judging others in much the same way we judge ourselves.
My ultimate aim is to help you not just manage life’s troubles but help you to transform your relationship to your pain and embody your most authentic, wise, strong, courageous, committed, and caring version of yourself – especially in times of great stress and suffering.
Sending Compassionate Wishes,
Matthew Porte, MSW, LCSW
