I am a counselor with 7 years of experience working with a range of clients. Having received a Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, my focus has been on helping to heal relationships while also working with individuals learn to cope with stressors that spring from family of origin issues. It has been a honor to walk with those struggling with past traumatic experiences as well and this has been where the majority of my experience lies. I have worked in different environments including residential treatment centers, in-home counseling, and also church-based and hospital settings.
My approach to counseling is to help the person or family I am working with identify where they would like to be by first listening and then working collaboratively with the person or system to achieve the desired outcome. I am trained in Prepare-Enrich and have worked with couples to strengthen their marriages. With individuals, I have worked mainly using techniques from CBT and Trauma-Focused CBT when indicated. Having been trained in family therapy, I use Family Systems Therapy approaches to help families learn about how they currently operate and to help them make changes to improve their dynamics in how each person relates to other members.
The first step to getting to where you would like to be is taking the time to reach out for help. I would be honored to walk alongside you and provide the support you need to make your tomorrow better than today!

Melanie is one of the most pleasant, empathetic, and professional therapists out there. I've never felt so at ease talking to someone about truly difficult topics. I never feel uncomfortably pushed by her, yet I know with every session that I'm making tremendous progress. I couldn't be more grateful to have her as a resource in my life. She means everything to my healing process.

Melanie is excellent!! She understands where I'm coming from and always has creative solutions and feedback. She is non-judgmental but also very spiritual and incorporates faith into our sessions which is important to me. I have never finished a session with her and felt like I didn't walk away with a new strategy or next step. Very helpful!!

Melanie is truly a godsend; incredibly helpful and perspective. Coming from a person who rarely reaches out for help and definitely felt I could take on the world on my own it was a breath of fresh air to have had the pleasure of seeing & chatting with Melanie as my therapist. Not only did she understand where I was coming from she aided and guided me through getting to the root of my issues and trauma and then helped me towards the path of overcoming and healing those traumas. I can’t say enough good things about her. Thank you Melanie - for making me feel validated and like I don’t have to take on everything alone to name just a couple ways you have helped me!

Melanie is amazing. Her wisdom and compassion have worked magic in my life and allowed me to reset when I feel lost or out of control. The resources she has shared with me have given me the tools to help myself, which may be the greatest gift there is.
Written on Sep 07, 2021 after therapy with Melanie for 2 months on issues concerning stress, anxiety, self esteem, and compassion fatigue
Melanie has been open, courteous, and unbelievably perceptive. A common problem I have had in therapy is running into walls set up by the counselors themselves, whether it comes down to personal beliefs or assumptions. I end up editing my thoughts and feelings so that they will not lead to disputes or confusion, and therapy then becomes useless. Melanie does not do this. She is open and adaptable, and clearly wants to start from a foundation with the person she is helping, rather than one that she herself is comfortable with. Therapy with her has been a transformative experience for me, though not in the sense that everything has been wonderful. I have had ups and downs, but I feel better equipped to deal with them now. I cannot recommend her enough.
