Melanie DenBoer

About Me

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Washington State. I have extensive experience working with adolescents, individual adults, and families. In addition to my private practice, I have worked in community mental health, and a shelter for women and children in crisis. I have also been a clinical supervisor in a local community mental health center. Currently, I am in private practice helping those with anxiety, depressive and adjustment challenges; among other issues.

My counseling style is interactive and engaging. I work from many different perspectives; depending on what each client needs. As I tailor a specific style ans treatment plan, I utilize concepts from solution focused, cognitive behavioral and narrative therapies; as well as incorporating humor and positive psychology when it fits the situation.

Seeking counseling can feel vulnerable. My hope is that you can see the strength in the steps you are taking to take care of yourself as you engage in this process. I look forward to working together.

Melanie is understanding, knowledgeable, and practical. I enjoy talking to her, and I'm learning about myself and about how to be a more confident and relaxed version of myself.

I reached out to Melanie during a time when my anxiety had reached a new level that was disrupting my life. She provided insights and mechanisms for me to immediately improve and re-frame my thinking. She also recommended reading and exercises to cope during this time. She has a caring and pragmatic approach, which I very much appreciate.

Having a way the get therapy on the go and having that non judgmental person I can talk with has been so helpful. I was nervous at first but ready to tackle the changes I need to make. My therapist has been awesome and I am looking forward to our sessions.
