About Me

I am, Melisa Moreno, LCSWR a licensed clinical social worker practicing in NY and AZ. I studied at New York University and specialize in Dialectic Behavioral Therapy and trauma informed care. I have been working with these treatment models in an in-patient forensic setting for the last 15 years with a private practice in NY and AZ for the last 5 years.

I take a holistic, mindfulness-based psychotherapy approach to help foster healing, self-discovery, and transformation. I am a highly skilled and trained experts in the field of trauma informed care and treatment. I believe everyone deserve the best as they continue their personal journal to improving their quality of life. My clients have come to my office with a wide range of concerns including addiction, depression, anxiety, dual diagnosis, bipolar, domestic violence, relationship issues, dissociative disorders, attachment issues, parenting issues, career challenges, trauma and ADHD.

My counseling style is open, warm, genuine, and empathetic. I believe in treating everyone with dignity, sensitivity, and compassion, and have worked respectfully with those who are LGBTQ+, as well as struggling with addictions, eating disorders and significant trauma. My approach combines cognitive-behavioral, humanistic, attachment repair and narrative therapies.

It takes courage to reach out for support and therapy however it can be a very empowering and helpful process. I look forward to working together through your journey of healing and self-discovery.

This is my first experience with theory. I was very anxious about it, but Melissa Moreno made me feel at ease. She lets me take my time at opening up about myself. I feel I can talk to her freely and without judgement. She is in touch multiple times a week which I have come to look forward to, but the live sessions have been very helpful. I was one that never told anyone about my history, but she has made it easy. Thank you BetterHelp and thank you Melissa!

She is great, at first I was uncomfortable bc I did not know how this was going to work out but she made me feel good. She is a good counselor that listens to what I say and gives me technics to use for my health of mind.

Very nice person. Very open and welcoming. Would recommend for anyone out there who needs advice or help to straighten their life, and this is more than just with mental health.

She's a good listener and her responses are directed to my last comment or message I sent to her. She's responding to what I said, not something else. She's addressing the topic of the moment, if you will. That is quite pertinent to what I'm dealing with or thinking about at the present time.

Melissa is great. She gives me good advice and sends me info. I do find it a little boxed up. Since I have no idea what her caseload volume is, I should not judge. Not being able to see and go back and forth, in time is a hibderance
