Welcome! I am Mellisa, a Licensed Professional Counselor. I received my Masters in Counseling at St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas. I have spent the past eight years working in an inpatient crisis stabilization setting.
The mission of my therapeutic approach is to empower you. For healthy change to occur a healthy space that provides compassion, honesty and listening is essential. I listen well, and without judgment, but I do give practical support and clearly communicate with you what I am observing in our time together. I believe that no matter how overwhelmed you feel there are opportunities for health and growth, and there are very concrete techniques to help you better navigate this time of change.
I specialize in emotional regulation to help manage difficult situations, general stress and anxiety, depression . I provide therapy from a cognitive behavioral approach, with a focus on experiential techniques to help calm an overworked stress-response system. Above all, my focus is on my client in the emotional space they are in, so I adjust the pace or style of therapy based on the need of the individual. The work I do is collaborative and strength based. I operate under the assumption that your time slot is yours, and all paths taken are meant to lead toward a future that brings you hope and growth.
