My name is Mercedes D. Green. I have served in the military for over 18 years as Military Police, Platoon Sergeant, Drill Sergeant, and Operations Sergeant. I am currently a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with experience of 3 years in therapeutic services and 12 years in case management services. Over the span of 12-18 years, I have worked directly with institutionalized offenders, trauma survivors, military personnel, adult parents, transitioning adolescents, and adult/child suicidality. I have experience working with individuals, families, couples, and groups. My methods include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Gestalt Therapy. I am currently based in Southern California working with adults and youth in crisis intervention services.
I have a very mindful and empowering counseling style. I am welcoming and empathetic to every client/family/couple. I believe every client/family/couple presents a unique experience and thus requires methods tailored specifically to them. I am flexible and willing to change an approach if growth is not reflected in the measured progress. I believe in listening to the client as the client is the expert on their presented problem.
It is always rewarding to witness a client take the first step towards therapy because the acknowledgment of change is in itself empowering. I look forward to working with you once you are willing to take that first step. Let's place value on your journey towards change.

Mercedes is a very thoughtful and engaging therapist. She knows a variety of different therapies that she can use to assist clients based on their situations. Personally, she has made me feel like what I'm going through matters and has been very encouraging and supportive in my time with her. I also appreciate her approach and the practical applications she gives for me to use outside of our sessions.

I would like to say that since I’ve been writing and had my first session with Ms. Green I would say that it helped me see life and myself in a different perspective and that I’ve been receiving many blessings since then. I would say that it’s helped me deal with my children better and feel that much secure about myself and my parenting as a well. It’s also allowed me to build a closer relationship with God as well as many people I’m close to. It’s helped me get an better understanding of why some people may not be able to stick around all the time and why I should always focus on me and my children at all times. It’s helped me leave a toxic situation that wasn’t doing anything but hurting me as well as turned me into a believe as a whole. Since speaking to Ms. Green I was able to build a stronger bond with people I thought were strangers as well as control my anger in a way that I didn’t know was possible. It’s also helped me manage timing a little better as well as be able to forgive my friends and family because I know that even though I needed them they weren’t always able to be there for me and I thank you so much for that and I would most certainly refer her to as many people I’m allowed to.
