About me

I have been a licensed clinical social worker for over 30 years. I received my MSSW from the University of Tennessee in 1982 and started my clinical practice as a medical social worker at the St. Louis Veterans Hospital spinal cord injury unit. In the late 80s I was transferred to North Carolina to start a new program in mental health. After retiring from the Veterans Administration I have practiced clinical social work in the private sector across the human services continuum in behavioral health in western North Carolina and central Florida. Having medical and behavioral health social work experience provides me knowledge of an integrated approach (mind /body connection) in psychotherapy. I utilize the best practice standards in treatment, unique to the participant and their situation. I am nonjudgemental, kind, careful, down-to-earth, and skilled in helping people change the way they think, feel, and behave while respecting their privacy and rights.
