About me

As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Michael Greenwald brings a wealth of experience in mental health treatment and a passion for providing holistic care to clients. Michael received his Master’s degree in social work from the University of Chicago and his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Washington University in St. Louis. Michael has worked in a variety of clinical settings, including a long-term care facility for adults with serious mental illness, an integrated primary care office, and a college campus. This breadth of knowledge allows Michael to adeptly address any need of his clients.

Michael specializes in solution-focused therapy, offering techniques that the client can use in the present moment to manage symptoms or challenges. He believes that therapy should be a collaborative process, guiding clients towards desired outcomes based on their own values and goals. With every client, Michael brings compassion, creativity, and a sense of humor. Although Michael primarily draws upon techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, he tailors every session to the unique needs of the individual client. In therapy, Michael supports clients as they are and reinforces their strengths while also motivating and inspiring the changes that can lead to a more meaningful life.

For self-care, Michael enjoys performing improv comedy, and he believes that the same tenants of improv apply to therapy: supportive listening, collaboration, and finding joy in the present moment.

It hasn’t been too long but I am already thrilled. Michael is empathetic, understanding, but also does things to help you improve your issues. I’ve had therapists in the past that didn’t offer advice or have me try things, and I’m loving how Michael has me try various things to reflect and improve. Highly recommend!

Michael has been a god send. His understanding, professional, knowledgeable nature put me at ease from our first session. All of his feedback and tips have made a positive difference in overcoming my insomnia, and i finally feel back to normal, after only 2 weeks of treatment. I haven't had to take my doctor prescribed anxiety medication which would have taken months to take effect and eventually wean off of, and it's all due to Michael's help.
