About me

This is supposed to be a large section that is constructed to convince you that I am the therapist for you. It should list my extensive experience and qualifications and 'disorders' that I am well versed in to treat. Presumably, you have read many of these blurbs and probably feel no more comfortable with your choices than you did before. I would present to you the perhaps controversial perspective that my role as a therapist is not to treat anything at all, sadness, fear, anger, joy, and happiness are not disorders to be resolved but integral to what it means to be human. However, sometimes these aspects of our reality can become out of balance and overwhelm us, it is this that brings people to therapy because the body and mind are telling us something is not quite right for us. My role as a therapist is to help you begin to listen to your experience to bring attention and consciousness to it. Through this we may more deeply understand ourselves, enabling us to love more fully, laugh totally, and when right for us be sad more completely. I cannot promise that I will resolve all the issues you may face, but I can promise that I will walk beside you in your darkest moments with courage, compassion, and without judgement in the hopes you may connect with these intrinsic aspects of yourself and begin to release the bonds of the story that holds you.

“Behind the hardness there is fear and if you touch the heart of the fear you find sadness and if you touch the sadness you find the vast blue sky.”

I have 15 years’ experience in mental health with four of those years as a psychotherapist, a degree is applied psychology, as well as a PGdip and MA in Counselling and psychotherapeutic approaches. Whilst the core of my practice adheres to the humanistic theories of personality I have an integrative approach. I use many different theories to inform my practice, including but not limited to Buddhist theories of mind, positive psychology, psycho-dynamic and mindfulness approaches. It is my understanding that all these theories are just different perspectives all pointing at the same phenomenon, each is a part of the truth but not the whole of it. There are many paths up the mountain but they all lead to the same destination. I wish you luck on your journey through life and hope you find the solace you are searching for.
