About me

Change is often difficult. As humans, we tend to resist that which is unknown or uncomfortable, even if it means continuing to experience emotional suffering. Engaging in psychotherapy can be a great way to mobilize your inner resources, and help you overcome the obstacles that may be impeding your quality of life.

I believe in providing a non-judgmental space, in which a genuine therapeutic relationship can develop and thrive. Ideally, this allows for two mutually beneficial input sources -- the psychologist's expertise in psychological theory and treatments, and the client's invaluable knowledge of his or her unique set of past and present experiences.
Finding and connecting with a therapist can be a daunting and challenging task. I also believe that this partnership is often fundamental to therapeutic success. Therefore, my personal advice is to you is you're unsatisfied or uncomfortable with your therapist, I'd encourage you to find one who "sits well" with you." May your journey be filled with success!

I hold a doctorate of Psychology degree (PsyD) from Nova Southeastern University, as well as a Master's degree in psychology from New York University (NYU). I have worked extensively with a variety of institutions providing psychological services, including to Veterans and their families at the Columbus, OH, Bedford, MA, and Miami, FL Veteran's Affairs Hospital (VA), in addition to community mental health centers, and outpatient primary care clinics. My specialty is in the evidence-based treatment of trauma/stress-related disorders, such as Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and to individuals who have experienced childhood abuse.

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Dr. Michael Koren. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.

Although my time working with Dr. Koren was relatively brief, I cannot underestimate the impact that he had. He's an excellent listener and always couched his advice in constructive and supportive terms. Above all, he really opened my eyes to the benefits of therapy and I'll always be grateful for that. I believe anyone in Dr. Koren's care is in safe and caring hands. I would recommend him without hesitation.
