About me

My name is Michelle Alden; I am a bilingual counselor in the Valdosta area working in private practice. I have worked in community agencies and clinics since 2003 doing bio-psychosocial assessments, individual and family counseling, treatment plans, and conducted groups. I also did volunteer work while in school full-time for the Guardian Ad Litem in Florida and worked for the Redland Christian Migrant Association in Quincy, Florida.
I am very passionate about helping others and empowering the families to be the best they can be. I am a mother of a 26 year old daughter and a 7 year old son, a grandmother of 3 handsome boys and a sweet baby girl, a wife of 24 years, a daughter, a counselor in private practice, and a student, and love all my roles dearly. I love animals, reading, listening to music, taking nature walks and most of all spending time with my family.

Professional Credentials
I earned my Master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from Thomas University in 2009 and am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Georgia. I am also nationally certified and am anticipated to graduate with my PhD in Psychology in 2024. I am an Anger Management Specialist and provide court ordered classes in individual and group formats.

Philosophy
Communication is the core of the relationship and everything else follows. Trust, respect, objectivity, openness all comes from communication. Resistant behavior, unethical decisions, disrespect and lack of trust are bases for an unprofessional and unhealthy relationship destined to fail. As with any relationship, there has to be a beginning base from which to expand. Most important is the desire to be inquisitive and willing to gain experience through active learning, observations, self-explorations, self-reflections, feedback and continuing education, diverse situations are experienced. “My passion is in helping empower families to change maladaptive thoughts and behaviors in order to prevent negative patterns from continuing from generation to generation”. “My listening skills, genuineness, and skills I’ve learned all attribute to my success. The modification, the smile in others, is my reward.”

Reviews

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Michelle Alden. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.

Michelle has been so amazing to me. She is empathetic and kind as well as very knowledgeable and wise. Michelle helps me gain a new perspective in each situation we discuss. I started faithful counselling ready to give up on my marriage and after only three sessions with Michelle I feel ready and equipped to work on it. I am so thankful for the encouragement and wisdom I have received from my time with Michelle.
