About Me

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in both Washington State and Arizona with over 19 years of experience working as a Psychotherapist. I have worked with clients in a variety of settings including inpatient and outpatient, and private practice. I have worked with Individuals, families, couples and groups with a wide range of concerns including Schizophrenia, Bipolar disorder (Bipolar I, II, Bipolar unspecified and Cyclothymia) Depression, Anxiety, OCD, ADHD, hoarding, relationship issues, parenting problems, career challenges, anger and behavioral issues, cutting, eating disorders, and personality disorders. I have extensive experience with the Autism Spectrum, specifically what is formally known as Asperger’s. I have also helped individuals and families who have experienced physical trauma, emotional abuse, grief and loss.
My counseling style is interactive, supportive and compassionate. I incorporate my understanding of a client’s background, values, belief systems, and attitudes about the therapeutic process. I am mindful of the vital matters of race, ethnicity, gender, age, sexual orientation, religion, and socioeconomic status. This understanding allows for a positive therapeutic relationship and more effective intervention/treatment.
My therapeutic approach is more Eclectic, which is a more flexible and multifaceted approach that allows the therapist to use the most effective methods available to facilitate the most effective therapy for each individual client in an integrated style. However, I am formally trained in Psychodynamic Therapy, which help clients to explore their feelings and think about what causes them by drawing links between how a client is in therapy, how they are in the rest of their life, and how things were for them in childhood. The approach/tools that I most commonly draw from are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Person Center Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Existential Therapy, and Systemic Therapy. The treatment approach, plan and goals are tailored to meet individual needs.
Taking the first step in seeking help can be challenging, however it is important to find a therapist that you feel comfortable with and can trust. Research shows that the therapeutic relationship is the most important factor and enables positive outcome.
I look forward to working with you and your journey!
