About Me

Hi! My name is Michelle Bruce, my preferred name is Shelly and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in New Mexico with over 10 years of professional experience working with individuals, couples, and groups to assist in empowering positive change in their lives. I have worked extensively with people challenged by depression, stress and anxiety, grief and loss issues, addiction issues and relationship issues. In addition I have spent the past 4 years working in hospice care with my primary focus on end of life counseling with terminally ill patients. My approach is solution focused, client centered and strength based. I use several therapeutic modalities including evidence based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, and Motivational Interviewing (MI).

I believe you are the expert in your life and you are in control of where you want to focus your attention on self and how deep you want to explore your personal and unique recovery and healing. I will be there to guide you through your therapeutic journey in a relaxed, inviting, and safe environment. I belive the heart of your healing process begins with the interaction with you and your therapist.

It take tremendous courage to take the first steps to getting help in improving self and I believe finding the right fit with a therapist is key to building a solid foundation for a positive and successful therapeutic experience. I belive identifying your personal strengths and using those strengths to empower and motivate you overcome your unique challenges will help you experience fulfillment and healing as you develop the skills to turn your challenges into opportunities.

I congratulate you on taking the difficult and courageous first steps to begin working on your challenges by choosing to start therapy. I look forward to begin working with you on your goals and supporting you through your therapeutic journey. I am excited to start working together!
