About Me
Hi there! My name is Michelle Flynn and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of Florida. I am also working on becoming a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP). My most recent job as a school based mental health therapist provided me experience in diagnosing and treating children and adolescents with PTSD, as well as adjustment disorders, anxiety, depression, grief, LGBTQ issues, ADHD, and ASD, to name a few. I am experienced at providing psychosocial services and counseling inpatient and outpatient individuals. I also have experience working with domestic and sexual violence survivors. I understand the importance of working with clients, families, and multidisciplinary team members in order to properly assess psychosocial status, strengths and areas of need, and promote positive adjustment and rehabilitation to improve the quality of life. I am laid back and offer a welcoming personality that helps put individuals at ease and open up. My own personal physical disability also offers assistance in connecting with and relating to individuals with physical limitations.
In addition to being a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I also have experience teaching as an adjunct instructor at State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota from August 2004 to May 2015. I received positive student evaluations every semester and am excellent at explaining complicated concepts in an easily understandable manner. I have a talent for employing unique teaching strategies to effectively engage all individuals and foster a fun learning environment. My constant encouragement, patience, and optimism result in a positive learning environment.
It takes courage to seek a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards a change. If you are ready to take that step I am here to support and empower you.
I look forward to working with you!

I love Michelle approach; knowing I’m nervous to open up to a therapist she is taking her time and not forcing me to open up but rather build a rapport and slowly I’m opening up
Michelle us an outstanding counselor, she is patient, kind and provides extraordinary insights. Her greatest strength is that she will never lead you to a realization you are not ready for, because she understands that the journey (and how you navigate it) to an improved mental health is just as important as the destination and should be treated as such.
I look forward to our weekly sessions - it’s like catching up with a friend that gradually turns into a deeper discussion. Michelle shares examples and stories from her life that make sessions feel more like a conversation - this really helps me open up and feel understood.
great counselor with practical knowledge
Very amazing individual. I can speak to her like a lifelong friend and that is important for disclosing things and being vulnerable.
Michelle is simply the best. She is so calm and caring and supportive and I could not have asked for a better person to help me navigate a difficult time. I would recommend her to anyone.
I feel comfortable sharing with Michelle. We have had one session so I don't have enough insight BUT
Michelle created a good rapport with me at the start of our call. So I felt comfortable enough to continue.
Thought this was well worth mentioning.
Being my first time seeking therapy, I immediately felt at ease sharing my story with Michelle. Through the use of practical tools, reversed perspective, and above all- heartfelt empathy, I feel more empowered to face my problems with renewed courage and strength.
Michelle is an excellent listener. Makes me feel at ease. Wonderful sense of humor and excellent at suggesting practical tools to suit particular issues.
