Hello, I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I have been providing help and support to people since 1984 in one capacity or another and as a Therapist since 1998. I have worked in Community Mental Health and in Private Practice settings treating adults as individuals, couples and in groups. I use integrated approaches to help people and am influenced by Cognitive Therapy, Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy, and Person-Centered Therapy and Self-Awareness approaches.
We, as human beings, share common ground in that living life is full of joys and sorrows. We all experience times when things happen in life that we would prefer not to happen. You may feel scared and confused. You are not alone. Pain is part of life, more or less for everyone. I see therapy as a healing art in which to help people experience events in more positive and self-affirming ways. I use a holistic view in that I will want to know about you personally and socially. To achieve a good connection and mutual understanding is it important that I listen fully in a way that you can feel, heard and understood. We may examine your thoughts, beliefs, emotions, and behaviors as we progress through therapy. There are links between these elements that flow both ways in that behavior can influence thought and thought can influence behavior. We will work toward your strengths. We all share these strengths and have healed ourselves through life as we have adjusted to events in our lives. The approaches I use are grounded in helping you to respond to the challenges you face in ways that benefit you. It is my belief that how one responds to events is all that one can control. Please know that therapy can be hard work on both of our parts. It is my mission and my privilege to assist you as we both learn and grow. My end goal is to provide non-judgmental support and to be a safe person to whom you can share aspects of your life
