About me

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in California. I have over 25 years of experience working with various populations including individuals with severe mental illness, addictions, families, children, couples and individuals. I’ve worked with a broad range of concerns including depression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, relationship issues and parenting problems.
My passion in life is to help others identify and nurture their strengths. My treatment style is to use a collaborative, client-centred approach. I believe in working with clients in an honest professional manner to help them feel empowered and motivated to take control of their lives and realize that they can achieve happiness and resolve any life issues they may have. I enjoy connecting with others using empathy, listening and a sense of humour.
I will do an initial background assessment and then we will set goals from there.

Michelle is an excellent therapist. She's patient, attentive, knowledgeable and empowering. I'm very grateful to have been matched with her because she has really helped me gather the tools that I needed to feel like I can handle and overcome stressful situations.

Working with Michelle Riley was a very enriching experience. Ms. Riley was a joy to have as my therapist, although my time with her was short, it most certainly was productive and extremely helpful. She was a bright shining light in my life and was my cheerleader, always in my corner cheering me on to strive for bigger and better things in life (one small step at a time of course). Thanks so much Michelle for all you did for me and I’m sure you will continue to change a lot of lives in the next years to come. All the best and thanks so much BetterHelp for all you do.

Michelle was really lovely and approachable. She really read and digested my first messages and broke it all down into manageable topics. She helped give me pointers and aims at the end of each session to work on and focus on for the next session to help with my ways of managing different situations. Thank you Michelle!
