About me

Welcome! I’m so glad you’re here. Often times therapy is where people land when they are looking at the space between. Sometimes It’s the space between values and actions. Sometimes it’s the space between fears and goals. Sometimes it’s just this nebulous space between somewhere and in between.

Our work really starts with someone showing up. In response my role is to meet people where they are and help. Sometimes that help is sharing information. Sometimes it’s offering permission to do the thing that feels impossible. Sometimes it’s gently redirecting distorted ideas about yourself while paying attention to where they come from and what purpose they have served.
No matter the space, my responses are guided by your needs and our therapeutic relationship.

As a dually licensed counselor, my professional focus and background is largely in treating substance use and mental health needs. I’m passionate about supporting people who seek to make changes to their substance use or whose exposure to someone else’s substance use has led to difficulties. In terms of specific mental health treatment, I often draw on content from DBT, Mindfulness, Solution Focused Therapy and Motivational Interviewing. My counseling style is warm, active and often includes pop culture references and humor. In terms of professional counseling experience, I’ve been in the field for 8 years. My work history includes providing chemical and or mental health services in residential treatment facilities, a psychiatric placement and outpatient settings.

Thank you for taking the time explore working together. I genuinely look forward to working with you!

Michelle is such a lovely gem, I feel grateful to have her as my therapist

A therapist so good that every time my friends tell me about their bad therapists, I think to myself, "man, I'm so glad I don’t have that problem."

Written on Jan 27, 2022 after therapy with Michelle for 6 months on issues concerning depression, stress, anxiety, lgbt, family conflicts, trauma and abuse, intimacy-related issues, parenting issues, self esteem, career difficulties, coping with life changes, coaching, compassion fatigue, and adhd

I'm so thankful that Michelle and I were paired together. She is just genuinely a very kind person and that reflects in her work as a therapist. From our very first counseling session together, I felt very safe opening up with Michelle about certain issues and events that I have struggled to talk about and unpack in the past either with friends or a professional. Overall, Michelle is very intentional about her work and is very skilled at what she does.

When Michelle and I talk, it doesn't feel like therapy. It feels like i'm talking with my aunt or friend. She makes you feel so heard, tells you what you are doing correct, and guides you in ways you can do better. She is just simply a great person.
