About Me

Hi there, my name is Mikael and I am a trained psychotherapist in the state of Texas. I’m so glad that you’re here and considering therapy!

Maybe you have a sense of what’s bothering you, or like many others, maybe you don’t. My clients often report feeling a sense of general unease without really understanding why. For some, this feeling is more of a whisper, haunting them quietly as they make it through yet another day. For others, the feeling is unbearably loud, sometimes to the point where it’s hard or even impossible to get out of bed in the morning. Maybe you feel similarly. Perhaps your romantic relationships or friendships aren’t as satisfying as you’d like them to be, or maybe you’re at your wits’ end with certain family members or coworkers. Maybe there are parts of yourself that you dislike or even flat-out despise. Perhaps you just want to be able to enjoy yourself again, even just the little things. Depression, anxiety, fear, emptiness…these feelings can build on each other and rob you of an otherwise good and enjoyable life. Like most people, you probably want to feel some sense of hope that things can be different. I believe that they can be different.

A little bit about myself: I grew up in Sweden, hence why my name is spelled a little differently. I enjoy music, coffee, reading, all things nature, good food, and spending time with my family. I graduated with a Master of Social Work from the University of Pittsburgh in 2017, and I have over 4 years of post-graduate clinical experience working for well-known medical centers and also private practice. As for my treatment approach, my goal is to first and foremost provide you with a safe space to talk about anything you want. If you’ve never been to therapy before, I think you’ll find much relief in simply having an unbiased person with whom you can share anything you’d like. Together, we will do everything from addressing and solving the more obvious concerns in your life, to diving deeper and discovering the more hidden sources of your pain. Regardless of how deep you want to go, we will make progress. If even a small part of you is curious to see how things could be different, I truly hope we get the chance to work together.

Mikael is a great listener and knows the right questions to ask to guide me through my issues. He offered me helpful perspectives and advice that allowed me to navigate a tough spot in my relationships with my partner and my parents. Thank you Mikael!

Mikael is the best pyscho-therapist that I have ever worked with. I went into this process not truly knowing what I wanted to get out of it, but knowing I needed help. In his short time helping and listening to me, Mikael has helped me feel validated and secure in my own voice. He helped me set boundaries and find my voice under the waves of other thoughts crowding my mind. Mikael helped me find peace where I didn't have any before by simply being there. He is incredibly professional and always finds the perfect time to push and always knows when its time to pull back. He is, simply put, great at his job.

Mikael is a fantastic listener and he always has exceptional feedback on topics. He’s given me both supportive perspectives and the real hard hitting truths for any issues I’ve brought up over the past few months. I’m truly in a better place in my life right now because of Mikael’s advice and guidance.
