About Me

Hi!
I feel that I am very blessed to be able to do what I do as a counselor. I have over 20 years of helping people heal, grow and experience a higher quality of life and it has been incredibly rewarding for me. I am passionate about being a counselor and I strive for noticeable improvement in the vast majority of the people that I work with. I would describe my overall style as very interactive and connected in the counseling process.

I will listen to you, support you, and seek to give clarity and guidance where you have been confused. This may mean helping you heal from wounds of the past, dealing with current stressors, or helping you communicate with more understanding and clarity.

I have extensive training in several forms of therapy such as DBT, CBT, Trauma Release and use whatever techniques and approaches will be most beneficial to you. I am happy to work with all belief systems and will cater my approach to you. I

I work with ages 21 up to 75 for individual therapy (*no Couples or Family sessions)
I also find it useful to provide my clients with education on family cycles to gain insight regarding family patterns and how to set appropriate boundaries with those who can be toxic.

(***Note~ To save you time and bring clarity, here are few details which may help. I do not do "messaging" as a counseling modality. I work 100% using scheduled Video or Phone appointments, either 30 or 45 minutes in duration. If you need a counselor who messages back and forth with you throughout the week, we would not be a good fit as I have a regular weekly schedule. I dont work with alcoholism, drug/porn addiction or eating disorders as this is not within my scope. Please seek a counselor with particular expertise in these areas for best results.)

I am excited that you are taking steps to living a happier and healthier life and I am more than happy to help you in anyway I can. I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in the state of Idaho. My Master of Arts degree was attained at Antioch University in Los Angeles and I specialize in the treatment of PTSD (trauma healing), anxiety, and stress.

Thank you for visiting my profile and I hope to meet you soon!

Much joy,
Mikayla Forrest M.A., LCPC

Mikayla has been an incredible help in my life. I found her last year and little did I know I was going to seriously need her this year. She has helped me work on my anxiety and self esteem. We have built an awesome relationship over these past few months and each time I schedule therapy I can’t wait until I have my session with her! Almost feels like a friendship. She’s very down to Earth and I can tell she genuinely cares about my progress. I had a nervous breakdown about 2 months ago and one thing she did that previous therapists I have had did not do is validate me. If you’re looking for someone who will make you feel comfortable and care about your progress.. pick Mikayla!

Mikayla is warm, open, and listens without judgment. She gives feedback and open-ended advice when needed, but also allows me to just say what I need to say.

Mikayla is a fantastic listener who is always ready with helpful comments and suggestions, while also being solid and able to provide definitive feedback, if needed. She is very professional, but also very welcoming and easy to talk to.

It's the beginning of our relationship and I already feel very comfortable with Dr. Forrest. She has a holistic approach that I am very fond and drawn to and it is incredible to speak with someone who is very educated in the matter. She is a great listener and sends very good information and tools immediately after speaking about them. I am excited to continue with therapy and to grow and practice what she teaches me!
