About Me

Hello!

I welcome and congratulate you in taking the first step in finding healing and growth. I applaud you in taking this first step, as I understand the first step is the most difficult yet the most important. I invite you to learn a little about my background, expertise, and foundation of therapy techniques as you are exploring a therapist to collaborate with in your journey to becoming the best version of yourself.

My name is Miranda Tamburello, MS, LPC, I have a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Avila University [2013] and am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Missouri. I utilize a person-centered approach to therapy with en emphasis in strengths-based and motivational interviewing techniques. This approach is centered around the notion that the individual is the expert of themselves and holds the key in uncovering the problems, as well as the potential solutions. As we explore therapy, it is my hope that you will find clarity of your own thoughts and understand your feelings better. It is important to know that we will have a therapeutic relationship where I will assist you in exploring the outcomes of your decisions rather than guiding you to a particular decision/conclusion.

I have knowledge and expertise in working with individuals experiencing addictions, negative mental health symptoms [as it is normal to experience a manageable level of neurosis, i.e. anxiety, depression, etc. it is when it begins to interfere with your daily life that is when it becomes problematic], significant life changing events [including reintegration from incarceration], and relationship/familial issues. In addition, I have provided counseling and assessment in residential, outpatient, and places of incarceration. I have been fortunate to have worked with diverse populations and uphold a level of awareness that different populations share differences but also similarities. It is important that whomever I am working with feels heard and understood. It is my role to create an environment where you can explore your vulnerabilities and I am hear to listen to you and develop an understanding of where you've been and where you want to be, regarding any part of you life.

I know that it takes a great deal of courage to better your life and situation(s) and I applaud you in doing so. My counseling style is warm and compassionate, as I am not here to place judgement nor unproductive criticism. My style to counseling is that we will be a partnership and I will always meet you with respect, sensitivity, and understanding while empowering you to take the steps needed to becoming the best version of yourself. If you are ready to take this step then I am here ready to take that step with you.

I look forward in working with you and seeing your life become what you wish it to be.

Although it's only been one session with Miranda, I am extremely happy to have fortuitously stumbled upon her profile and work with her! She has an incredible warmth in the way she listens and responds, and even through the phone, I could feel her care. She is also very sharp & incisive; deducing things about me right away from patterns. I'm truly impressed haha! I think the way she structures her sessions offer a nice balance between focused topics as well as free conversation. Truly looking forward to working thru life with Miranda !

I had a terrible experience with a counselor when I was younger and decided I would never go to one ever again... Well, some life event happened and I just couldn't do it on my own anymore, I simply didn't know how. I found Miranda, and she feels like a best friend! She explained and helps me work things out in a way that really connects with me and I actually look forward to our sessions now instead of dreading the thought like I did originally. Miranda has seriously changed my life and I owe her a lot for it.

Miranda helped me gain back my confidence in my ability to handle what life has handed me. She gave me a safe space to reassemble the confused pieces of myself during one of the darkest times in my life. I will forever be grateful for her and what she did for me ❤️ I only wish I could have spoken to her more frequently.

I've been holding in a lot of trauma that trails back all the way to my childhood. I was matched to Miranda and she has just been wonderful. She seems to genuinely care about me and would chat with me in between scheduled sessions just to make sure I'm ok. I haven't had someone that I can be completely open with and it is so refreshing to not have to hide my past or present traumas. I think only Miranda knows the real me. It's also nice to know that someone randomly thinks of you and messages you to let you know that they're thinking of you.
