I have always had a genuine interest in the clients that I serve. After practicing law and family mediation for over two decades, I decided to get my Master’s degree in Social Work and became a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW). While completing my master’s degree, I had separate field placements at a hospice and also at a nonprofit that specialized in helping individuals with disabilities. While at hospice, I provided individual and family counseling and co-facilitated psycho-educational and bereavement support groups. At the nonprofit, I provided advocacy and counseling for both children and adults as well as helping victims of crime.
I have had quite a varied work experience with different groups and different problems. In private practice, I have provided mental health counseling for adults with different issues including: chronic illnesses, depression, anxiety, family conflict, relationship issues, coping skills, trauma, domestic violence, sexual assault, grief and loss, conflict resolution and stress reduction. My certifications include being certified as a trauma specialist. I offer a keen understanding of the emotional, financial and psychological issues of separation and divorce. I approach family life transitions with compassion and understanding while helping to clarify the issues and simplify the process.
My treatment approach is interactive, solution focused, compassionate and supportive. I will use different modalities including cognitive behavioral therapy(CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), solution focused, and emotionally focused therapy (EFT). You will receive warm unbiased practical feedback that will help you come up with your own answers to life challenges in a safe confidential environment. I integrate different methodologies and techniques to offer a highly personalized approach tailored for each client.
I can help any person who is truly ready to examine his or her life. Ultimately, I want people to better understand and accept who they are and to process their difficulties in a way that empowers them, and to recognize that they hold the power to learn new and more effective ways to create the positive changes that they want in their lives.
I view therapy as a collaborative sharing experience and seek to help clients feel comfortable, hopeful and truly understood. Talk with me.....I'm interested to help!

She is a great listener and a wise counselor who works closely with her clients.
She is a very good counselor. I enjoy talking with her and feel comfortable and confident of help.
Monica is a very insightful, caring therapist with great suggestions. She is extremely organized and remembers to re-visit initial goals as we progress through therapy. She gives extra time to sessions and is flexible with her hours. Monica has extensive experience, both in life and in the mental health field, and I would recommend her, without hesitation, to anyone seeking therapy.
Monica is professional and offers recommendations and solutions and resources. I highly recommend her and would ask for her again if I need more counseling.
Monica has been a source of stability during such transitions of a new job and how I needed help in navigating family dynamic changes, and self care. She was accessible and always came gently into the stresses I was experiencing. Her presence and voice were calming and understanding, validating yet firm. I’m so grateful for the time we shared. She is a wonderful support to any who have the privilege of talking through difficulties with her.
Monica is a wonderful counselor, after our first session, I felt a great relief and she made me feel that there is really a calm after the storm and she guided me to get out of that storm and that I can do it. I look forward to our every session because her guidance is another step to a better me. I wish I had known about Monica and Betterhelp sooner, ( like years ago). I have never felt better until I spoke with Monica. Thank you for your compassion Monica
Monica is a great counselor. Given her background, she gave well-rounded and thought-out advice. She kept me interacted with relevant worksheets to help with my anxieties and frustrations. I'll continue to use the tools she gave me in life.
Monica was great and very receptive to me. She helped me see different views on situations I was having which is very important since people tend to block themselves in to their thoughts only. I had talked to a couple therapists outside of BetterHelp but no one had quite explained things to me the way she did.
I've only been working with Monica for a few weeks so far and I am very pleased. She responds in a timely manner which is great. I feel like I can talk to her about whatever is on my mind and she's there to help me, not judge me. I never thought I could get help from counseling but Monica has been there with me the whole way. I would definitely recommend her!
