About me

My name is Monica Rowell, and I am a licensed professional counselor. I received my master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of Colorado in 2012. I specialize in working with clients who are dealing with issues related to trauma, relationship conflict, parenting challenges, anxiety, depressed mood, spirituality and meaning making.
I began my professional career as an elementary school teacher before working in various social support positions and eventually finding my way to counseling. I have worked with families in supporting them through major transitions and challenging parenting struggles. I worked for 5 years in crisis response and supported individuals through a variety of traumatic and unimaginable events. I have a depth of knowledge and experience working with survivors of interpersonal violence and I understand the complexities of these relationships. Regardless of what brings you to counseling, it is my desire to provide a warm and welcoming space for you to uncover and develop the strengths you already possess. I will focus on helping you get a better understanding of what is going on in your brain and body and work with you to develop skills to connect with yourself and regulate your nervous system.
My approach is trauma informed, collaborative, and client-centered, and you get to set the pace. I recognize that each of us has a unique story that has been shaped by people, places, events, and circumstances. I work to create a space that is safe, warm, and non-judgment where you can be your whole self. Within your story, you’ll have the opportunity to heal from the pain that has impacted you and we’ll work together to develop strategies to bring into the life you want. I look forward to walking with you on this journey.
