Monique Parr, LCMHC
About me
Hello, my name is Monique Parr. I am licensed in the state of North Carolina as Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor #13017. In 2004, I obtained a bachelors’ degree in Psychology with a minor in Sociology from Fayetteville State University. Since obtaining my bachelor’s degree, the field of providing mental health services has been my passion. For over 10 years, I provided direct care and 4 years providing management and administrative functions, which include program management, quality and compliance/risk management, human resources obligations, and financial reporting. In 2014, I obtained a Master’s of Science degree in Professional Counseling from Grand Canyon University.
Entering therapy is a personal choice in which we will engage in a therapeutic intimate relationship where we discuss personal and emotional issues. The primary goal is to foster trust between the two of us in order to have successful, effective and efficient outcomes during the therapy process. My integral role is to do you no harm, to motivate for change, and to support your decisions and choices. I will serve as an advocate, to pay attention to detail. It is my goal to an account for your physical, emotional, mental, social, and cultural, political, and spiritual dynamics in your life. My theoretical orientation is a Holistic, Person Centered, Cognitive Behavioral, Transtheoretical and relationship-oriented approach to therapy.
I think I can help by displaying an environment that welcomes change, warmth, empathic understanding, genuineness and acceptance. It is important to develop and foster autonomy and freedom of choice with my clients. Far more importantly, one feels safe in the therapeutic relationship to explore the hidden parts of yourself. Empowering others to become the true authentic self.
I look forward to hearing from you soon!

Truly knowledgeable and a breath of fresh air to talk to. I’m very thankful to have gotten matched with her. My last time in therapy, I was matched with an older man that truly didn’t help me growing after maybe two months of sessions I quit and tried other avenues. Finally found my way back to therapy maybe a month ago and I feel as if I’ve grown every session with Monique. I really appreciate her and this platform.

My first meeting with Monique was helpful. She was able to help me see a side of communication and being checked out as a parent many years ago that I had not considered.

Monique is engaging, open and flexible to discuss any topic. She can give short 'assignments' (if clients are interested ) and willing to address areas as requested by clients. I learned to 'reframe' several issues that I was grappling with and found new energies by thinking about situations with more nuance. Thank you, Monique!

Monique is very attentive when we talk. She listens and asks great questions to make you think and figure out solutions. I would recommend her to ppl who want to feel embraced and cared for even from someone you just met!

Monique is a great therapist. I have been to therapy a couple of times before, and I've never had the feeling that I was given enough useful information, but Monique gives me plenty! Every session is great, and it flows in a very easy to follow and natural way. And on top of that, Monique is very thoughtful, I've never felt uncomfortable even when talking about hard topics. Absolutely recommend!
