About me

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor who practices in the state of Colorado, and have been counseling for the past five years. I completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Houston-Downtown in 2011 and a Master of Arts degree in Professional Counseling from Liberty University in 2013. I've worked in social services in some capacity over the last ten years with teens up to older adults. I am certified in trauma therapy & crisis intervention, and hold the designation of national certified counselor through the National Board of Certified Counselors.

I specialize in mental health and substance use treatment with both individuals and groups. This has helped me gain a wide variety of experience in aiding my clients with building skills for coping, regulating emotions, navigating relationships, dealing with grief and loss, & problem-solving. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is the modality that I have found to be most effective, because we get to where we are, based on how we think. However, I also use techniques from solution-focused therapy, motivational interviewing, as well as existential and experiential schools of thought.

My favorite approach is client-centered, which means that my clients get to drive their own treatment. A person's internal motivations will create change much faster than someone else's. It is a great joy in my life to be able to help people unload heavy burdens and progress towards their potential; and it is my honor to be able to help you.

Reviews

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Monique Phillip. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.

I have been working with Monique for about a year, on the tail end of 5 previous years in therapy with various counselors. Monique is THE BEST & most effective counselor I have ever had. I feel like she really tailors her approach to suit me. She is warm and makes me feel like it is a safe space, yet she also knows exactly when I need a push or when to raise a point that I won’t necessarily like, but NEED to hear. I have never grown as much in a year with another counselor. She is exactly the kind of counselor you’d want to have - where you feel like you really need her and you don’t want to ever not be working with her, yet she makes you feel so strong and so much more improved that you know you’ll be okay when that time comes. Thank you, Monique, for all you do!

Monique is a wonderful experienced counselor. She listens well and provides a no nonsense approach coupled with empathy and understanding. I would highly recommend her especially if you want someone who understands a spiritual background and perspective but uses a more holistic approach to counseling.

Ms. Phillip is a wonderful counselor. She is always prepared and on time with her sessions. She really took the time to understand my background and quirks to provide the best plan for my improvement. Her follow up is unparalleled and she makes you feel at ease and comfortable in every session. She's professional and not afraid to guide you to answers that you are reluctant to accept at the beginning. Anytime I don't understand something she will fully explain and answer all of my questions. She is truly the best I could have ever asked for. I look forward to my sessions.
