About me

If you are reading this, then it means you have decided to take the brave step towards making a change in your life because you want to be healthy and happy. Thank you for the opportunity to share a little about myself.

I majored in Psychology as an undergrad because I feel that keeping a healthy mind is vital to living well. Then I proceeded to obtain a Masters in Social Work after realizing my potential to help those who have been affected by physical and mental health conditions, especially substance use and serious emotional disturbances. I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker with over 15 years of professional experience in screening, diagnosis, therapy, advocacy, case management, and consultation. I am able to quickly and effectively engage individuals, couples, families, and groups with sensitivity and flexibility. I have established a solid foundation in educating and treating people with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders, and have demonstrated success in helping them manage various symptoms of traumatic stress. I am deeply committed to and genuinely concerned about addressing the needs of homeless and low-income populations.

My hope is to use my knowledge and expertise in helping to improve the lives of individuals, groups, and families in need. I will begin wherever you are most comfortable and will assist you in identifying the areas of your life that you feel the need to change. I have been trained in what is commonly referred to as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and feel that it is best to use an approach known as Harm Reduction especially when someone is considering how to resolve their problems. I find Motivational Interviewing to be the most effective approach in establishing a meaningful and compassionate dialogue about healthy changes one needs to make when addressing concerns they are struggling to resolve. I also routinely use Mindfulness-based approaches as I find them incredibly beneficial in managing intense emotions and thoughts. I commend you for your courage and appreciate the opportunity to help.
