About me

Hello and Welcome to Better Help. My name is Myra Cornelius and I am a Licensed Psychotherapist in the state of Georgia with over 20 years of counseling experience in the public and private sectors. I earned a Master's in Clinical Social Work from Barry University in Miami, Florida. I have worked with children, adolescents, adults and families with a wide range of concerns including development and family issues, depression, anxiety, self-esteem and confidence, social skills, adjustment, co-dependency, relationship issues, parenting, spirituality conflicts, grief and loss with a special focus on unresolved and chronic trauma.

My counseling style is highly engaging, supportive and collaborative. My approach is more holistic in nature, meaning, I consider the needs of the whole person which includes mental, physical, emotional, social and spiritual to foster balance in the healing process. I believe each human being has the capacity to discover and access his/her/their strength and personal power to "self-correct" negative life patterns, relieve emotional and psychological suffering, and heal the fractured self. I view counseling as a tool or sort of compass to guide individuals in this process of learning and healing through awareness, acceptance, alliance and action. Depending on your unique situation, I will utilize therapeutic approaches and techniques from an assortment of modalities including psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, solution focused, narrative, mindfulness, acceptance, existential, and trauma informed therapies to help you gain the insight needed to resolve problems, identify triggers and remove blockages to emotional healing and personal growth. Each person has a story, and each story must be told with dignity and safety. I am here to listen and honor your story with my utmost respect, full attention, non-judgmental support and compassion. Let me partner with you on your evolutionary journey to wellness.

I look forward to working with you!
