About me

Hello, and thank you for spending the time to learn about me. My name is Myriam Maida and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Colorado.

I have 10 years experience working in the mental health field, with children, teenagers, adults, and elders. I received my Masters in Transpersonal Counseling Psychology in 2015 from Naropa University. This Buddhist-inspired program emphasized mindfulness and the basic goodness of all people. My approach to helping people is person-centered, meaning we will work together to help you understand your thoughts, feelings, goals, and your strengths and wisdom. I believe you already know everything you need to heal and succeed -- it's just a matter of helping you tune-in to that knowing, and address the emotional wounds and old habits getting in your way. My goal will be to help you do just that.

I draw from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Gestault therapy, mindfulness, somatic (body-centered) therapy, and life coaching. My style is supportive and collaborative. Our sessions will be a non-judgmental space for you to just be you.

I entered this field because being in therapy and doing healing work radically changed my life. That's how I know how valuable it is to have a caring, non-judgmental ear, to help you through difficult times.

My clinical areas of interest include anxiety issues, social anxiety, depression, autism spectrum issues, addictive patterns, eating issues, and exploring and integrating spiritual experiences.

“The time will come / when, with elation / you will greet yourself arriving / at your own door, in your own mirror / and each will smile at the other's welcome, / and say, sit here. Eat. / You will love again the stranger who was your self.” – Derek Walcott

Myriam is VERY competent!

She was very understanding. I could talk my way through a problem and sound crazy as a clown and she never judged me. She took an interest in the way I see the world and how I function within it. One the top 3 counselors I've had in the past 12 years
