Nadia Mackenzie, BACP, NCPS
About me
I am a fully qualified London based therapist with 3 years professional work experience and member of the BACP, guided by their Code of Ethics. My training includes all the main Psychodynamic and Person-Centred /Humanistic theories and CBT. We can sometimes feel stuck or overwhelmed in our lives and I do believe talking therapy is a powerful healer and vehicle for change, by exploring feelings and developing strategies for coping with difficulties.
I fully understand taking the first step can feel daunting, which is why it’s important to find the right therapist for you, as building trust is a central part of the counselling relationship. Working relationally, I tailor my approach to allow your needs to guide our work. I aim to offer a warm, compassionate and non-judgmental approach for clients’ to feel safe, in a confidential space, to share difficult feelings and feel they are being listened to.
I often draw from a Person-Centred approach in helping my clients’ find ways to cope and begin to think about solutions for the challenges they face, which we would explore together. Working collaboratively at your pace, helping you to manage feelings, explore choices and develop your own inner resources. Together we would identify the difficulties you are experiencing, understanding their impact on your life and use strategies to work through what may be holding you back from living the life you really want to be living.
Some clients come to me with emotional difficulties such as anxiety, stress, depression, or struggling with low self-esteem and lack of confidence. Others come to therapy with family, relationship, college or workplace challenges. Some are experiencing loss or bereavement issues. Sometimes people come for personal development, feeling loss of purpose and experiencing these alone is often difficult.
My aim for our work together would be to provide comfort, a deeper understanding of yourself, and a sense of what options you have for enabling seeing things with fresh perspectives, which can open up new possibilities, helping you to achieve more positive connections with both yourself and others. I strongly believe given the right support, through learning ways to overcome old beliefs and behaviours, we have a capacity to find our own answers and so develop a sense of self-direction which leads us to more enhanced fulfilment in our lives.

I have been talking to Nadia Mackenzie for a few weeks now and she has been very supportive and kind to me. She reassures me and doesn’t make me feel embarrassed for how I feel which is exactly what I need.

Nadia has been so helpful and supportive through out a particularly rough time in my life. It would have been a lot harder without her support.
