Dr. Naiyana Chantarabunchorn believes in the spirit and value of the human connection that can be captured through counseling. She is passionate about ensuring that clients feel heard and respected, and ultimately believes that everyone brings with them a very unique story meant to be told. Dr. Chantarabunchorn maintains a collaborative approach to counseling, providing more direct guidance or professionally challenging the client when seemingly necessary. She holds a special place for multiculturalism and is eager to engage each client's cultural perspective and beliefs on their healing journey in therapy.
Dr. Chantarabunchorn has a Bachelor degree from Westminster College in Psychology, a Master's degree from University of North Carolina at Greensboro in Counseling and Counselor Education, and a Doctorate in Counseling, with a specialization in Marriage and Family Therapy from Barry University. As a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with the state of Oregon, "Dr. C" as she is often called, works with a broad spectrum of adult clients. Her approach can be an eclectic one, but most often incorporates brief solution-focused, and cognitive-behavioral principles. She is person-centered and strengths-based in her approach, believing that everyone has gifts, skills, and protective mechanisms, albeit repressed at times, that can help them weather life's challenges. She has held leadership roles directing several mental health programs over the years while tapping into her love for the clinical care component and engaging with patients in therapy as well. Her experience includes working with adults with a mental illness, or co-occurring disorder. Her expertise includes relationship and individual problems, depression and anxiety issues, adult drug and alcohol problems, and multicultural counseling.
Dr. C is passionate about supporting efforts and organizations related to mental health advocacy nationwide; She serves on the board of Lines for Life, is a member of the Oregon Counseling Association, and maintains national certification as a professional counselor (NCC). When not working, Dr. C loves spending time outdoors in the beautiful state of Oregon for hikes, trips to the coast, taking her dog to the park, cooking and laughing with family. She loves being creative and crafty, and despite her lack of a green thumb, thoroughly enjoys the idea of trying to grow a garden!
