About me

An old professor of mine once told me, the only people who are mentally healthy are the ones who have not been diagnosed yet!  Most of us struggle at some point in our lives with an issue or problem we are unable to navigate alone, whether it be adjusting to a new situation in our lives, anxious or depressive feelings, grief or some other issue, I am here to support and empower you. I am pleased that you have taken the first step to a healthier you.
I am a licensed Mental Health Counselor, an A.B.A. Specialist, as well as a Psychology Professor. I have earned a B.A. in Psychology, a M.S. in Mental Health Counseling and a M.A. in Applied Behavior Analysis. I have worked with adults and children diagnosed as being on the spectrum, adults and teens diagnosed with an eating disorder, teens and adults who are experiencing orientation/ gender issues, people with anxiety or depressive symptoms, parenting problems, ADHD and anger management concerns. I have worked at different agencies with clients suffering from severe and co-morbid mental illnesses, children in the foster care system in the foster homes and in residential homes, adults and children in residential settings with severe behavioral problems, as well as having a private practice.
I would like to first work on a therapeutic relationship built on trust, positive regard and acceptance. I would like you to feel comfortable and know that what we discuss is between us and there is no judgment by me. I will offer you a safe environment to open up and discuss your concerns, as well as us working together towards establishing the right skills that will alleviate your distress or worries and help create a happier and healthier you. My approach to your therapy would be eclectic in nature. I am trained in CBT, Rogerian/Client Centered Therapy, REBT and Psychodynamic Therapy. I have specialized trainings in Eating Disorders, Gender transitioning that may be suffering with eating issues and Trauma Focused CBT. I am holistically driven in many ways, and meditation and other holistic type of activities would help you center yourself. I would like to help you see that your inner growth comes from within and through your heart, soul and mind; you can attain all your goals.
I look forward to working together!
