About Me

Hi! Welcome to BetterHelp and thanks for visiting my page!

I believe that every person’s experience is unique and deserves respect. The focus of my counseling work encompasses a myriad of social and emotional issues including anxiety, depression, trauma, teen pregnancy, behavioral management, school avoidance, post-traumatic stress, negative coping skills, substance use, poor decision making skills and relational stresses, including physical, sexual and emotional abuse.

My therapeutic approach centers around creating a genuine and accepting environment. This allows clients to feel comfortable and share openly as well as receive thoughtful acknowledgment and responses to their concerns. I rely on a trauma-informed, solution-focused approach, often grounded in reality therapy. What does that mean? To put it simply, let’s look at what’s going on currently and change it for the better! My suggestions keep in mind your life experiences, including any past trauma, but the focus is not to rehash those things, rather to use them to improve your current situation and enhance your life. Hopefully you will gain a few positive coping strategies and new life skills along the way!

My current practice focuses on at-risk adolescents and young adults, but I am well-suited to work with older adults as well! I have some experience with younger children, running self-esteem and friendship groups. Also, since I am raising two young children, I am familiar with parenting struggles and problems unique to little children.

I would be honored to work with you and applaud your bravery as you begin your counseling journey!

I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) and a Licensed School Counselor in Illinois. In 2003, I graduated from Indiana University with a Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology and minor in Criminal Justice. I then went on to earn a Master’s in Forensic Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology as well as a Post-Master’s Certification in School Counseling from Governor’s State University. I also completed a 40 hour training in Domestic Violence. I love dogs, tacos and murder mysteries. I am a mom to two young kids and a 12 year old dog.

Nancy has been a very positive influence on me as I navigate a difficult time. I have worked with other therapists in the past, but Nancy is by far the best. She has a rare combination of intelligence, approachability and "realness." Her intuition is spot-on. I am grateful I had the chance to work with her.

She’s great! Very attentive and calm. She offers new ideas and challenges my thoughts in a way that’s very supportive. I would recommend anyone to Nancy.
