About me

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Texas. Formerly from the east coast, I earned my MSW at Adelphi University in Garden City, NY (on Long Island). I moved to Texas in 1990 and have been licensed in the state since 1991. My approach to counseling is client-centered. I seek to join my clients where they are and to walk with them on their life journey to where they want to go. I seek to help each client understand who they are and the strengths and areas of growth they have, helping them to concentrate on their strengths and examine and possibly change areas that are stumbling blocks for them. I am also an ordained minister and while my faith informs my values and ethics I am open to people of all faiths and no faith and I do not seek to push my beliefs on anyone. My approach to counseling is to work with and honor the whole person and so spiritual ideas can be part of that if the client wishes. I am progressive in my thinking regarding faith and life in general.

I have experience in working with adults who are dealing with many life issues including grief and loss, illness, issues of aging, life changes and decision making, discernment, LGBTQ+ (I am supportive and seek to help people to become who they are and to help family members accept their loved one as he/she is), childhood trauma and self esteem among other concerns. I believe the answers to my client's life questions are in them, not in me and so I strive to ask questions and point out what I see and leave the decisions in my client's hands. I use the Enneagram when appropriate to help clients better understand why they do what they do. I also incorporate mindfulness in our session if that will be helpful.

I am available through video calls, phone calls, email and texts. I check my messages at least twice a day and will answer urgent messages as quickly as possible. I work primarily in the day time but can be available some evenings and Saturdays as needed.
