My name is Nancy Gaudet and I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) in Maine, as well as Nationally Certified Counselor, (NCC). I have been in practice for 7 years in different settings, such as running group sessions, community agency, as well as my own practice. Prior to becoming a Psychotherapist, I taught in the Public Schools, worked as a Corporate Manager, raised 4 sons as a stay at home Mom, survived divorce and began to find my voice as a Single Mom and a Cancer Survivor. I will probably always be an educator. My passion for becoming a Psychotherapist actually occurred during a season of being a Single Mom and leading a Single Mom’s Group! I believe life situations happen for a reason. Challenges can help us grow stronger and bring more balance into our lives.
My favorite quote is by Viktor Frankl: Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms—to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way.
My therapy approach is strength-based. This simply means that you and I will collaborate and find solutions in a strength positive manner.
During each of our sessions, we will discuss your current challenges, determine your goals, and develop an individual treatment plan. I am trained to use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and (what I refer to as) ‘cousins to CBT’, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I also use Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). All are empirically based, goal-directed and collaborative approaches to psychotherapeutic interventions.
My counseling style is open and nonjudgmental. I look forward to assisting you in acquiring the tools to become empowered to face life’s problems in a healthier and productive way.

She is wonderful
Nancy is one of the most knowledgeable and compassionate counselors I have ever had the pleasure to work with! Her understanding of both psychology and my personal spiritual needs has been a Godsend to me when I needed it most.
Nancy has helped me so much. I have been with other counselors in a setting such as this one and I felt as though I was talking to a robot. She on the other hand makes the experience so much more personal. Even though I jump around a lot in sessions on what I'm going through she pivots to address everything. I have been in counseling about 4 times and I have had more improvements and help in the small amount of time I've spent with Nancy then any other counselor. I'm so thankful for her!
Nancy is wonderful to talk to- she is supportive, knowledgeable, and non-judgmental. She is open minded, and comfortable to talk to. I would highly recommend her.
In the short time I’ve known Nancy she’s been a really huge help. She’s responsive, offers a lot of suggestions and reminds me to follow up.
I am pleased with the help and ideas on work I can do to improve my view of my circumstances.
Nancy is very kind and an extremely intentional listener.
Nancy has been wonderful. It is a blessing to be able to have a Christian based therapist.
I have only been working with Nancy a short time and already I am feeling the benefits from strategies she has suggested to me. I am really thankful to have found her!
Nancy helps making therapy a comfortable, safe space for vulnerability and self reflection.
