Why do we find it hard to reach out for help? Is it because we feel vulnerable and afraid to share our feelings for fear of being judged? Do we feel scared and ashamed that no one will be able to truly understand our struggles and help us? If you're still engaged this far, let me share my beliefs regarding seeking help. I believe your willingness to stand up and say "Something isn't working right and I'm so tired of feeling this way" is something a courageous person does. It tells me you want more for yourself, your life and your relationships. Only a brave person admits when things aren't going well and seeks professional guidance to help change the path they are on. A strong person actively seeks clarity and growth in the face of personal fear. And, I believe that's who you are. No, it isn't easy and you may find that while on the road to feeling better you will experience some bumps and a few unexpected turns. But I believe that if you are willing to roll up your sleeves with me, together we can help you see and believe that you are enough and that you matter.
Now, a little about me. I am a licensed clinical social worker with over 19 years of experience. I launched and managed a psychological group practice in 2004 and just recently sold it in 2018 to pursue additional lifelong dreams. Adult Eating Disorders is one my passions, having been trained within an inpatient setting in 2000 at St. Francis Medical Center in Pittsburgh PA. My private practice consists of adults in the clutches of body image, binge eating and emotional eating disorders. I also work without any judgment with conflicted individuals who find themselves in addictive personal relationships, including adultery. Stress, anxiety and depression are common and natural conditions I see in my work and I use a blend of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Psychodynamic (where appropriate) and Strengths Based theories in a very supportive mode.
When you feel ready, please know I am here for you. Thank you.
