About me

I am a licensed clinical social worker who graduated from Loyola University Chicago with a concentration in mental health. I also have a certificate in alcohol and drug counseling. I have worked with individuals, couples, families, and groups with a variety of presenting problems including substance abuse, addiction, trauma, anxiety, grief and loss, and depression, among others. I operate from a psychodynamic perspective but believe that therapy should be unique to each therapist and client dyad. The therapeutic process is a difficult process that should balance both personal reflection and trust in the therapist. Throughout my career, I have worked with toddlers, children, adolescents, adults, couples, families, and groups in various settings including community mental health, child welfare agencies, psychiatric hospitals, and addiction treatment facilities. I have collaborated with school systems to ensure quality treatment both at local mental health agencies and within schools. I have been trained in play therapy and sandplay therapy for children and adolescents and have additional experience and expertise in process addictions and substance use, women’s issues, grief and bereavement, and trauma.

I place a strong emphasis on the relationship between the therapist and client because I believe this is where the therapeutic change starts. However, ultimately, it is the strength and perseverance of the client that ultimately leads to long-term change. I conduct my work with clients through empathy and genuine curiosity. The process of starting therapy can be overwhelming but the ultimate journey can be rewarding. I believe that each person has their own struggles but that ultimately each struggle can find peace and closure, no matter the challenges. In each therapeutic encounter, I attempt to utilize the strengths of the client to help deepen insight into presenting issues and find strategies to better manage stress, whether this stress is from mental health symptoms or from interpersonal conflict.

If you are interested in starting your own journey towards balance mental health and a happier life, I encourage you to reach out and start the process.
