How I perform counseling and therapy has evolved over the years, but one thing has not changed, which is my deep respect and compassion for individuals, couples, and families. I find my effectiveness in therapy not only comes from my training, but often more importantly it is in the way of helping clients feel comfortable, understood, and helping develop a therapeutic trusting relationship which can provide the support for making important life changes in situations such as when they are faced with anxiety, depression, couples conflict, addiction or other issues.
I have extensive training with OCD and anxiety related disorders such as skin picking (excoriation disorder), hair pulling (trichotillomania), tics and tourettes, body dysmorphic disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, social anxiety, etc.
My approach is focused on promoting your insight about why you think, feel and react the way you do, to support you to take advantage of your own skills and potential and to guide you on taking care of your emotional needs and wounds that are not allowing you to mindfully and gently take good care of your life and your relationships with others.
A lot of therapists just want to talk about the issues. While I think this is great. I also believe individuals need to take action and work for the change they are looking for. I'm the guy to keep you accountable.
