About me

Hi, my name is Troy Pharis and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor based in Columbia, South Carolina. I have been in practice for almost 10 years and specialize in working with anxiety, depression, attention concerns, and assisting in processing past trauma experiences. Aside from my training in counseling, I am also retired military having served in the US Marines Corps and the SC Army National Guard on active duty. Over the past year and a half, my clinical focus has been on first responders, service members, and their families.

While my career has been around the military I have a very laid-back, personable, and casual counseling style. I want to make the process enjoyable while also moving toward the life you are seeking. Over the years I have been trained in many different therapy styles. I primarily focus on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy. I am also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). This is used to help clients process traumatic events that continue to cause problems in their lives long after the event. All of these styles are adaptable to the telehealth environment.

If you are here reading counselor profiles you have taken a great first step! Past trauma, anxious thoughts, depression, or ADHD don't have to define your life experience. I am here to help if you are ready to explore the path to healing.
