About Me

Hello and Greetings! I am a licensed psychotherapist with a degree in Marriage and Family Therapy (LMFT). I have been a professional clinical therapist for over 4 years, and maintain a private practice in Highland Park, CA and in Huntington Beach, as well as online services. I graduated in 2016 from Northcentral University (NCU), a 100% online program with full accreditation, and the first university of its kind to break ground with all the accrediting boards, which is why I feel so confident and enthusiastic about the effectiveness, practicality, and flexibility of online and distance-related therapeutic work and services.

Although I service a range of needs, i tend to specialize in adolescent depression, adult depression, anxiety, stress, LGBT issues, lack of motivation, low self-esteem, feeling "stuck" in life, addictions (including food), and family/relational issues. I also participate in a weekly PodCast called Mind Fit. https://www.facebook.com/mindfitpodcast/

Does life often seem stuck in patterns that repeat over and over? Feel powerless or helpless to change that experience? Do you frequently feel anxious, depressed, overwhelmed, self-conscious, or fearful? Ever wonder why you feel the way you feel, and think the way you think, and why it is so hard to make permanent change? Do you want more control, insight, and power to achieve personal breakthroughs?

My experience, practice, and training have shown me that our ways of thinking and feeling are due to years of self-authored truths. Our perceptions, interpretations, and beliefs about who we are and what everything means keep us trapped. Together, we will chip away at how to re-author yourself in a non-judgmental setting.
We work at a pace that is tailored to you and your goals, to discover your best self, and what you can become. I invite you to contact me!

I was hesitant of online therapy but I quickly learned that my assigned counselor, Neil would exceed every expectation. He has gone above and beyond to guide and treat me. He was always available and accommodating to my schedule; even in crisis moments through the app he would respond. It is because of Neil that I was able to reclaim my life again.

Neil has been great so far. I’ve been waiting for my scheduled appointment to actually occur still since it’s been busier during COVID, but Neil has been really good about answering back on the chat and giving me great things to think about. I’m new to counseling but I think this has been a nice way to ease into it, having some key points to think about throughout the day and knowing I can ask questions anytime. I also enjoy listening to his podcast for more advice.

Neil is the most amazing counsellor I have ever worked with. He is patient, understanding, really listens, and helps me get to the bottom of the issues I am experiencing. I've learned way more about myself, problems, relationships and life, from my time with him, than all other counsellors and self help books- combined. There is something about the way he speaks, responds and handles the issues we discuss, and the way he makes it feel like normal conversation. I feel very comfortable speaking with him, and opening up as I know I am continuously moving towards higher ground. I feel stronger, braver, and more loving, accepting and understanding of myself because of him.

Neil is insightful, patient, kind, and thoughtful. He listens intently and then talks things out with you clearly. He is wonderful to talk out your issues/problems out with.

I've really enjoyed working with my counselor, Neil. Not only does he respond to my journal entries and questions in a timely manner, but he also helps me dig deeper. He's supportive and affirming, but also offers so many helpful analogies and exercises to help me work things out. I find myself arriving at insights and epiphanies whilst working with him and reflecting on the exercises he gives me. It's amazing, but after working with me for a while, he really understood how best to help me and I feel like I've flourished over the past few months and have grown a lot. I can see real results in my life, one day at a time. I highly recommend Neil as a counselor and the BetterHelp format to anyone seeking counseling.

Neil is an excellent therapist, very attentive. I've been to a couple of therapist and must say that I immediately felt comfortable opening up to my truth (or so I thought). His questions and exercises provide instant feedback and identification or root issues so the healing process can begin. I love and look forward to my therapy sessions with him.

Niel from my experiences, is great at what he does. He truly listens and tries to pinpoint factors to be worked on. Within a few days of talking with him, I could see myself starting to make changes. I have had a few counselors, lol, and he is by far the best.

Neil's been wonderful so far. I was definitely really nervous about getting back into therapy, but I've been pleasantly surprised. He has a calming presence and is a rational human being, which I find very refreshing and helpful. I feel that whenever I'm ready to dive into my deeper issues, he'll be able to support me and guide me in the right direction. I also feel safe discussing my issues, feelings, and opinions as a marginalized person with him.

I look forward to every session, he's thoughtful and very aware of the bigger picture. I highly recommend Neil to anyone looking for a thoughtful and considerate approach to relationship / family issues.

Written by A.N. on Feb 11, 2020 after counseling with Neil for 3 months on issues concerning stress, anxiety, and self esteem

I found my time with Neil to be very helpful and the insights I gained far exceeded my expectations going into therapy. I really felt heard and that my concerns were being taken seriously. He helped me to get to the root of my issues much quicker than I would have thought we would and I gained so much from the tools he shared with me. I would highly recommend Neil if you are looking for a counselor who will make you feel comfortable and help you get to the root of what's troubling you.

Written by J.E. on Jan 23, 2020 after counseling with Neil for 2 weeks on issues concerning stress, anxiety, and grief

Neil has been very responsive and has given my great ideas to think through and adopt. Honestly it’s really nice to be able to write out my feelings and then he has time to process and respond. I thought I was only going to do this for a month but I can see myself extending it because with traditional in person therapy this has really helped with my GAD.

Written by L.I. on Jan 16, 2020 after counseling with Neil for 2 weeks on issues concerning stress, anxiety, relationship issues, family conflicts, career difficulties, coping with life changes, coaching, and adhd

Neil is absolutely amazing! You can automatically sense how passionate he is about helping others. In the little time we've worked together I've learned key elements and steps to start my healing journey. His approach has been very helpful and insightful, would definitely recommend him to friends and family.

One of the best therapists that I have worked with my entire life despite the fact it is all done remotely. At first I was kind of skeptical about his professionalism and knowledge as I didn't have great experience with online therapy in the past but a few sessions with him have completely changed how I feel about psychotherapy online and counselling in a virtual world. He is attentive to your needs from all angles and really motivates you to self-examine meticulously. I think a lot of times we just need someone to help us expand our way of thinking a bit. He is also great at asking questions for self-reflection. He is very detail oriented and thought-provoking too. I would give him 5 star rating and highly recommend him to anyone who is in need of psychotherapy or mental counselling. Great experience of working with him and he really helped me through the most challenging parts of my life.

Neil as a patient and attentive listener, even through my rambling, trying to get my story out and express the way I feel about my situation. Giving me some good feedback and some mindfulness worksheets to get into. I trust through this process I'll gain more clarity, so I can feel confident in my choices moving forward.

Written by M.E. on Aug 28, 2019 after counseling with Neil for 2 weeks on issues concerning depression, relationship issues, and self esteem

I put off finding a therapist for a long time. I dreaded my first conversation with Neil and all the awkward, clunky explanations I'd have to give about my depression and anxiety. All of the things that felt like dirty little secrets that caused me so much pain. But I was so pleasantly surprised by the way Neil accurately picked up on what I was saying and gave me more insight into how my brain was working. It made my issue feel so much less of a personal problem and more of a universal problem we could examine together. He always gives me a thoughtful response within a day or two any time I send a message. I actually think we've made more progress in between sessions just by being able to communicate things that are coming up in real time. Neil is intelligent and kind. I really appreciate his communication style and highly recommend him.

Neil is great, he's a good listener and adresses everything in way that makes it easy for me to visualize the emotional barriers i have to break down. His level of interaction guides me step by step through the maze of the past, helping me understand my emotinal self on a whole new level.
