About me

Nick Holdcroft, LPC, is a dedicated mental health professional with a rich educational background and diverse experience in the field. He completed his undergraduate degree in Psychology at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA, and subsequently pursued a Master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling from the same institution. During his academic journey, Nick completed an internship at Chesapeake Regional Healthcare, where he worked as a mental health professional at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Upon graduation, he relocated to Texas and began his career in private practice therapy, concurrently serving as the lead therapist for Reflections Lifestyle Center, an adolescent PHP/IOP.

Certified in ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) and self-esteem, Nick employs various evidence-based modalities in his practice, including CBT, ACT, solution-focused therapy, and narrative therapy. Describing himself as a direct and directive style therapist, Nick guides his clients through sessions with a collaborative and navigational approach, incorporating humor, analogies, and assigning practical side work for clients to complete outside of sessions.

Nick’s areas of specialization include depression, anxiety, stress, self-doubt, life transitions, relational issues, and tailored support for athletes, first responders, military personnel, other mental health professionals, men, and LGBTQ+ individuals. What Nick loves most about his work is providing clients with a dynamic and engaging therapeutic space, steering away from the stereotypical portrayals of therapy seen in movies.

Over the course of Nick’s career he has found a passion for working with OCD and anxiety related disorders. He is trained and certified in using the gold standard treatments for OCD which are Exposure and Response Therapy (ERP) and Inference based CBT (I-CBT)

Outside of his professional life, Nick is a passionate coffee enthusiast, exploring various cafes and coffee shops. Currently, he is delving into the world of roasting his own coffee beans and experimenting with different flavors. Additionally, Nick enjoys running, cooking, playing bass guitar, traveling, skateboarding, and spending quality time with his wife and their adorable, grumpy 12-year-old pup.

I have had one session with him but i’m comfortable to say that I think i’ll be able to work with him. I appreciate how he uses analogies and take real world things to make an example.
