Life is hard, I'm glad you reached out for help. My name is Nicole Iredale and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Texas (also Nationally Certified). I earned my Bachelor of Science degree from LSU in 2004, attended LSU Law School for a year, then moved back home to Texas in 2007 where I earned and graduated with my Master's from The University of Texas at San Antonio in 2012. My professional experience and background are fairly diverse, and for the past three years I have worked in a private practice setting helping people who are struggling with depression, anxiety, stress, grief and loss, trauma/abuse, career changes, and all the other struggles and obstacles life brings our way. Other areas of clinical attention I work with on a regular basis include mood disorders and personality disorders.
My dedication to the field of mental health comes from having lived with my own challenges, and I was fortunate enough to receive therapy beginning at a young age. After resolving my own emotional struggles, I became a therapist to help others overcome challenges and barriers life hands us. Living with emotional difficulties and the stress life brings can be frustrating, isolating, and a lonely experience when you feel there is no one there who truly understands what it is like to deal with these things on a daily basis. The continued stigma about receiving mental health treatment or counseling is also not helpful and contributes to people continuing to try and deal with these difficulties alone. Fortunately, there is help out here, and you do not have to be alone in managing these difficulties. Having someone who is a licensed professional and who has extensive personal experience in overcoming challenges life has to offer can truly help you know and feel you are not alone and provide not only help but hope. Sometimes all we need is someone to listen and help guide us when we are going through hard times.
My counseling style is person-centered, holistic, and individualized to meet the needs of each client. I primarily use evidenced-based techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, with specific emphasis on how our perspective shapes the way we view and deal with the world and the struggles we face. I incorporate traditional talk-therapy with cognitive work, mindfulness, and solution-focused techniques. My view on counseling is a mind, body, and soul situation, as there is no line between body and mind. Emotional health and physical health go hand in hand, and a major obstacle I help others overcome is learning that self-care is not selfish, and we have to take care of ourselves before we can truly take care of others - one cannot serve from an empty vessel. In living this life and all that comes with it, self-care and doing more of what makes you happy is of vital importance, and understanding this is okay is part of the help I can provide.
Again, thank you for reaching out and taking the first step to make life easier, I very much look forward to the opportunity to help. Yes life is hard, but it can be easier when you are not alone in your journey.

I was very nervous about this whole service but Nicole made me feel so so welcome. We've only had one scheduled session but I feel well supported and so so comfortable. I can sense her devotion to this service provider and to me as an individual. She's already impacted my cognitive behavior
