I attended New Mexico State University for my Masters in Marriage & Family Therapy and graduated in 2010. I have worked in a variety of settings including a psychiatric hospital, a state core agency, and a contract private practice group. I have worked with individuals ages 3 and up and from all walks of life. I have done some couples work but focus mainly on individual therapy to maximize one's strengths and life changes. I tend to use a variety of therapy approaches depending on how a client responds and depending on what he/she is wanting to accomplish. I like to focus on a person's strengths and use those strengths to make needed changes. I tend to use some Experiential Therapy approaches to build the therapeutic relationship, humanistic and strengths-based to build on a person's strengths, and Cognitive-Behavoiral Therapy to work on thought-changing and behavior modification.
About me (aside from therapy): I have been married to my husband for over seven years and we are quite the geeks- enjoying many fandoms and board games. We have two children who are adopted and are amazing little people! While my work is extremely important to me, my relationships with friends and family as just as important; so my family life revolves around a lot of time with them. I enjoy watching movies, reading when I can, coloring and listening to music. I tend to look at life from an optimistic and strengths-based perspective as I feel there is enough negativity and hatred already in the world. My biggest goal in life is to play important roles in the multiple lives of those I have met and will meet.

It has been great having Nicole as a counselor. She is understanding and does give advice to get on track or stay on track for new goals and old goals
I've been working with Nicole for a few months now. Being able to send an instant message when a situation presents itself is very comforting and it's beyond great, for me, as my memory is horrible. Instead of trying to remember what happened to talk about it, it's conversed right there and then. I've learned a great deal about myself (in this short period). I truly appreciate her availability, advice and guidance.
She took my issues seriously, and keeps in contact with me even when I struggle to find time to reply.
I appreciate that she checks up on me when I haven't had time to respond. She listens well and balances listening with advice or counsel on what I could do
The fact that she takes the time to see how I'm doing, especially after I have a tough day, makes me feel like someone cares about me & is willing to listen to my feelings without judgement.
Nicole is amazing! She makes me see things differently, analyze and process things in a better and healthier way. Plus, I can schedule personal and dedicated sessions with her one or more times a week. Either video chatting, phone calling, or messaging if you're more comfortable that way. Talking to her is so personal. She's inviting, warm, down to earth and just incredible. She has made such a huge difference in my life.
I feel like I’m talking to a friend when I talk to Nicole.
Nicole is the best. She's like an understanding best friend who doesn't get too involved but goes beyond "wow that sucks". She makes me think about things I never thought of before.
