Hi, my name is Nola, and I'm a licensed clinical social worker with over 15 years of experience. Even after all this time, I am still fascinated by people and their stories. I believe that it's incredibly important to work with a therapist who is on your side, yet not afraid to tell you (with caring) when something you are doing is not working. My clients have told me that my empathy, warmth, and humor help them to talk about difficult topics freely, and quiet their own negative self-talk.
I received my training at Columbia University, and since then, have worked with clients of all ages and a wide variety of concerns. I 'm specialized in helping people struggling with depression, anxiety, life stressors, family concerns and relationship problems. I love helping people see a path out of their pain and confusion by working with them to recognize their own strengths and possibilities.
I believe that the connection between therapist and client, combined with the therapist’s techniques and skills, can lead to positive and long-lasting change. I am experienced in a wide basis of theoretical and practical knowledge, including cognitive behavioral and dialectical behavioral therapies, solution focused treatment , trauma-focused therapy and more. For me, it's extremely important that the techniques I use be tailored to each individual I work with. I trust that people are the experts in their own lives, and my role is to help them reach their potential.
Above all, I believe that everyone deserves to be listened to with respect, empathy and humor.
