About Me

Thank you for reaching out to BetterHelp! My name is Pamela Regan. I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in Illinois and Wisconsin. I obtained a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology from Ball State University; a Guidance Specialist Certificate in School Counseling and Guidance from Lewis University; and completed the Substance Use Disorders Counselor Certificate Program from the University of Wisconsin-Madison Continuing Studies Program. Additionally, I have 25 years professional experience providing therapy and related services in a variety of community behavioral health, school, and specialized treatment settings.

As a clinician, I have worked with individuals of all ages with diverse backgrounds and presenting concerns, including depression, anxiety, grief, stress management, transitions, family conflict, workplace adjustment, ADHD, learning and developmental disabilities, cultural issues, coping with community violence, and issues related to LGBTQ identity. I have specialized experience working with children and adults who have experienced child abuse, sexual assault, and other forms of trauma. I am also experienced in working with children and adults with disabilities. Recently I’ve provided counseling to military service members and their families.

I consider it an honor to share others’ personal stories and experiences and seek to treat clients with respect and understanding at all times. My counseling style draws upon several therapeutic approaches. Using client-centered counseling as a base, I begin with active listening and validation of clients’ feelings and experiences. I collaborate with clients to set goals, solve problems, and recognize their progress. Clinically, I also incorporate cognitive-behavioral therapy, solution-focused brief therapy, trauma-informed care, mindfulness, and/or creative-expressive interventions in my practice to best meet individuals’ needs and preferences.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, singing, hiking, cycling, yoga, reading, writing, and acting. I currently volunteer in an animal rescue sanctuary and serve on the Board of Directors of a community theater group.

My favorite thing about her is she doesn’t sugar coat her own life, she’s real; she listens to me and makes me feel I’m not alone. I immediately felt safe to open up to her.

Pam is patient, understanding and I appreciate being paired with her. I can be a bit much when I’m in my lows and tend to ramble I’m glad she can filter through the chaos yet still validate my feelings and concerns.

Work with me!
