Hello! My name is Patty and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of West Virginia with 20 years of counseling experience. I graduated with a master’s degree in counseling from Franciscan University of Steubenville and earned an undergraduate degree in psychology from West Liberty University. I have worked in schools and outpatient settings with clients experiencing depression, anxiety, stress, low self-esteem, grief, anger issues, and trauma.
I primarily utilize Cognitive Behavioral and Reality Therapy approaches but I draw upon many therapeutic methods in order to find what works best for each client. No one approach works for everybody, so it is important for me to tailor my style according to my client's needs. Therapy is a collaborative effort between my clients and me and success will only come through open and honest exchanges. Therapy is something I am doing with you and not to you.
I strive to create a safe nonjudgmental process built upon mutual respect and honesty. My goal is to provide a nurturing, compassionate, and sincere therapeutic environment. The experience should be emotionally, mentally, and spiritually fulfilling leaving you feeling confident, encouraged, and empowered. The process can be uncomfortable at times but it’s part of working towards positive changes. I am easy going, relaxed, and a great listener who will challenge you to be the best you can be.
Some personal interests of mine include writing, reading, traveling, and golfing. I also enjoy watching just about any sport, but my favorites are football and hockey.
You have taken the first step towards making changes and I am proud of you for that. It can be so difficult to ask for help and I am here to support you every step of the way. I look forward to working with you on this journey. Let's get started!

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
LPC #1643 (Expires: 2021-06-30)
Have only had 2 sessions but I’m optimistic and the scheduling tool combined with email makes it easy to address my mental health after hours because I usually put it on the back burner during business hours and family time. Thank you Patricia.
Patty has helped me be more mindful of my thoughts and habits in a short period of time. I’m looking forward to more sessions.
I entered a period of stagnation dealing with my husband's health problems (many operations, procedures, and is permanently in wheelchair.) I also had a death of his brother during counseling and had to handle all those details. I am in the process of writing a book and got stalled out on that, too. She helped me with suggestions and worksheets. I feel much better. I like online therapy because I can keep a record of our conversations.
Patricia is very responsive and super helpful. She's very good at driving at whatever the issue is and helping with it.
I enjoy working with Patricia. She is understanding and compassionate. She provides multiple ways to approach a topic or issue. I enjoy working with her.
Patty is good at her job. She's very professional, yet exudes warmth and caring. She's a great fit for me and my counseling needs. I highly recommend her.
Very kind and helpful.
I was very timid to approach counseling, but Patricia Schultz made me feel comfortable and at ease! She’s truly a blessing!
